Artist/Fine Art Photographer

My Artistic Journey

About

Born in Mauritius, Steeven Shaw is a self-taught fine art photographer with over 15 years
of experience, as well as a web developer. Drawing since November 2019 and has worked
for over 25 French fashion agencies for 8 years.

Charcoal is one of the first tools humans used to make artwork, appearing in cave paintings
dating back 28,000 years. The first use of charcoal for purposes other than providing heat was
around 30,000 BC when cavemen used it as a pigment for drawing on the walls of caves.

My Art is a reflection of resilience, born from moments when life fractured me.
Each drawing captures the depth of those experiences, translating Pain into Beauty and Struggle
into Strength. Just as life has broken me and rebuilt me, my art emerges from those cracks,
revealing a story of survival and transformation with every stroke.

An immensely difficult medium to master yet incredibly expressive medium.

Through my work, I hope to inspire others.

Artwork

This type of art is an immensely difficult medium to master, both physically & emotionally.
It takes years and late nights. Between 100 and 300 hours+, or even more, to complete, depending on the details.

A basic drawing price per hour can range from $25 to $100, depending on the artist’s experience level,
the complexity of the drawing, and the local market, with beginners typically charging closer to $25 per hour
and more established artists charging closer to $100 per hour. (Source: Internet)

While always grounded in good form and composition, Steeven is not afraid to take risks with his art, which is a refreshing departure from many of his contemporaries. And while his talent already surpasses his physical age, I will continue to expect great things from his artistry as he continues to grow in his experiences with his art. I believe we’ll see great things from Steeven Shaw over the course of his lifetime, and I for one, am looking forward to that.”

Steeven Shaw is an artist.

Paul Choy is a British-born, Mauritian photographer driven by a desire to tell the story of the people he meets and the places he visits through the photographs he captures.

“Steeven Shaw is an artist. Taking a photograph is easy. Anyone can do it. Point your camera, release the shutter and snap, you have a photograph. But telling a story through the photographs you capture, that is how you become an artist. Steeven is such an artist. Emotion. Connection. Fascination. These are the tools of creativity which Steeven uses to tell his stories, through the photographs he creates, each creation a new chapter in the story of life through his lens. Well done Steeven, your photographs are a testament to the power of a creative mind and I can’t wait to see your story you will tell us next.” www.PaulChoy.comFacebookInstagram

May your steps be memorable

Mike Howes (Photographer), from a small village called Dunragit, South West Scotland. General 35mm & Digital user, This new venture is something I started after gathering images over the last few years, well, 35+ yrs clicking shutters to be honest.

“Hi Steeven, after reading your thoughts, emotions and understandings in life, it is clear that your personal determination, as well as experience, has and will see you succeed. Your work submitted is outstanding to say the least. Your take on life in connection to your photography and artistic outlay has shone through well. Your own expression from your soul will carry you along your chosen path. May your steps be memorable and enjoyable.”

If I could create real life masterpieces, I probably wouldn’t be making AI art.

I dare to call myself an AI artist, not just because I’ve become proficient in the craft, but because I’ve seen enough so-called “real artists” pass off random brushstrokes or blobs of color as artistic creations. If someone can convince the world that “red stains on a white background” are meaningful art, then surely AI art has a place in the conversation too.

But then, there are artists out there whose talent is undeniable. Their work leaves even people like me, who is not easily impressed, in awe. These are the creators who pour 100–300 hours into a single piece, crafting something so extraordinary that it humbles anyone daring to call themselves an artist.

One such artist is Steeven Shaw, a fellow Mauritian whose charcoal creations are beyond my comprehension. His work doesn’t just reflect talent and skill, it’s a testament to patience, passion, and unparalleled dedication.

Sadly, living on a small island like Mauritius often means that incredible talent like Steeven’s doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. His art, as breathtaking as it is, risks being hidden away instead of being celebrated on the global stage where it belongs.

If you know anyone who values and supports raw, undeniable talent, please connect them with Steeven Shaw. His work deserves to be seen, admired, and celebrated far beyond the borders of our island. He’s ready and looking to bring his talent elsewhere.

And as for me? I’ll keep exploring AI art, knowing full well that if I could do what Steeven does, I wouldn’t be generating images with algorithms.

“Sometimes stories are too long and hard to tell. That’s why Photography exists.” (Steeven Shaw)
